Local Schools and Resources
The Hunt School is one of the highest ranking public schools in the state and serves children in kindergarten through 8th grade. Graduates may then attend either the nearby high school in Ingram or Tivy High School in Kerrville. There is a small grocery store in Ingram, six miles from Hunt, and a super HEB, a Walmart, and an Albertson’s in Kerrville. There is also a Lowe’s and a Home Depot in Kerrville, as well as many restaurants, hardware and drugstores, churches, doctors, and other health services. Due to the dispersed population and rural nature of this area, the 911 emergency system has been extremely well set up and revamped over the last five years, with each and every property specifically identified, and a star flight helicopter is available for medical emergencies. The local Peterson Hospital will soon be moving into a newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility on the river. San Antonio International is the nearest airport, just over an hour from Kerrville.

Cherry Springs Ranch in Hunt, Texas, is the old headquarters and home place of what was once one of the largest working cattle ranches in the area, encompassing tens of thousands of acres. Now 211 acres, the authentic quaintness and character of times gone by have been preserved and updated to create a unique private retreat suitable for personal as well as business pursuits. A composite of grasslands, range, bottomland along a constant-level creek, and high, densely wooded ridges, this spread represents every aspect of the beloved Texas Hill Country.
