“Sol y Cielo” is Spanish for Sun and Sky. And this is where I live — on 40 acres in Northern New Mexico, in what is known as the Galisteo Basin, just south of Santa Fe. This is true high desert country at its best and boasts an almost perfect climate year-round, with highs in the low 90′s in the summer and lows staying above zero in the winter, with frequent snows that blanket the land for a day or two and then magically dissolve away. Perfect. It’s always dry — low, low humidity — so extreme temperatures always feel mellow, and in the winter the brilliant sun rides low in the southern sky, so streams into one’s home to warm the spirit as well as the house. Here are a few favorite views of my place. Enjoy!
