Eureka… Springs, that is…!! Shar-Pei “Bella” Sees Ghosts!!

“… one kept messing with my tail. Another one tried to pull out my lips!”

                                                                       ……….excerpt from Bella’s ghost report

Some long-time clients emailed me a few days ago asking me to check in with their Bella to see what was bothering her when, on their recent stay at a hotel in Arkansas, she whined, whimpered and clawed at the hotel room door when they left to go eat breakfast. (I will call the clients M&M, since both their names start with that letter.)

I’ve talked to Bella all her life, so I know her well and it is very easy for me to “tune in” to her.

It only took a few seconds while washing dishes and pondering M&M’s request to flash into Bella and get back from her a very strong visual impression that there had been ghosts in the room that had scared her to death!

“Okay,” I thought, “Better check in with M&M first and let them know this before pursuing it and charging them for a full-blown communication session. Because they might think I’m crazy. Besides, maybe this was the first time they’ve ever left Bella in a hotel room alone (said my left brain), so maybe that’s why Bella reacted so strongly. Maybe she just thought they weren’t coming back.”

I dashed off a quick email to M&M about Bella seeing ghosts… but also asking if they had ever left her before. The reply: they travel with Bella frequently, and she is normally quite content to stay in the hotel room and sleep while they go on their brief outings.

BUT………. (and here’s the clincher, that gave me goosebumps)………. they added that where they had stayed was the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, reputed to be The. Most. Haunted. Hotel. In. America!

Yikes!

Needless to say, they were intrigued and asked me to please go ahead and have a full communication session with Bella to find out her version of exactly what had happened in the hotel that morning.

I had never heard of the Crescent Hotel, but heck, loving a good ghost story as much as the next person, I was hooked and was more than happy to proceed!

From what Bella told and showed me, there are many, many ghosts in this old hotel, one or two of whom noticed her when she first came in and, because her kind (the Shar-Pei) was basically unkown when the hotel was in its heyday, early in the 20th century, she attracted a LOT of (ghostly) attention! The Shar-Pei breed, after all, exemplifies NOT your most commonly thought-of dog image!

Long story short, quite a few of the departed ghostly residents of the Crescent Hotel followed Bella, gathered around her and seized the opportunity to check her out by poking and prodding when M&M left for breakfast. No wonder she was terrified!

Wouldn't you maybe want to pull on these lips too?!
Wouldn’t you maybe want to pull on these lips too?!

Bella had a LOT to say about the various kinds of ghosts she saw at this hotel, but as we were winding up our conversation, out of curiosity, I asked her if she had seen any dog ghosts. “No,” she said. “Just a silly cat!”

So, going back online to the history of sightings at the Crescent Hotel, sure enough, there have been several sightings of a cat ghost! Look hard, in the circle above, and you will see her. If you want to see more, just look up the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, also on YouTube! Fascinating stuff there, and Bella could obviously see it all!
